Zeitz MOCAA has  announced the appointment of internationally respected museum leader and curator Elvira Dyangani Ose as Artistic Director, effective from 1 October 2026.

Dyangani Ose has held leading roles at institutions including Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) and The Showroom London, with previous curatorial positions at Tate Modern and Creative Time in New York. She is currently Artistic Director of the second Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial.

Bringing a Pan-African outlook and extensive international experience, Dyangani Ose will oversee Zeitz MOCAA’s curatorial vision and direction as the Museum approaches its second decade and 10th anniversary in 2027.

‘It is a privilege to join Zeitz MOCAA. I am thrilled to come on board at this moment to continue its journey as a leading African institution with global reach,’ she said.

Dyangani Ose’s appointment signals a significant new chapter for Zeitz MOCAA—building on the foundations of its first decade while continuing its commitment to ambitious contemporary exhibitions, art historical knowledge, artists from Africa and its diaspora, education, and access for all.
