Over 10 concerts, almost day after day, from Adekunle Gold in Terra Kulture to Wizkid in Eko Hotel….

The phenomenal Asa is scheduled for a Johnny Jazz Night with Femi Kuti in concert this Friday, December 7, but it is Simi’s concert on Sunday at the Federal Palace Hotel that will herald the annual, yearend series of concerts of hip hop acts.

As Simi serenades her Victoria Island audience with materials like Owan’be, Joromi, Jamb Question and Love Don’t Care, another live musical party opens across town, on the far reaches of the Lagos Mainland. Here, Small Doctor (real name Temitope Adekunle) leads a cast of performers, including Shody and Do2dtun with performances from Duncan Mighty, DJ Enimoney, DJ Spinall, Lax, Jaywon, Harry Song, CDQ, Mr Real, Reekado Banks, Dany S, Reminsce and Vector at the Agege Stadium.

The following week witnesses Adekunle Gold in AG Live on December 13, 14 and 15 at TerraKulure. Inside that same weekend Wande Coal, now King Coal, holds his concert at the Eko Hotel on December 14. Competing for audiences on the same day, at the Federal Palace, is Mayorkun, now famously known as The Mayor of Lagos: he will hold his concert at the same Balmoral Convention Centre where Simi would have performed a week earlier.

It gets more interesting. Two relative unknowns, a duo calling itself The Legend of Mars and Barzini, holds court at the Freeme Space, Nike Art Gallery, in Lekki, on December 15. The following day, Ladipoe is in concert at the Upbeat Centre in Victoria Island.

There is a Pretty World show, entitled Live in Lagos, at the Artisan, also on Victoria Island, on December 17, Two days later, DMW’s Dremo presents his first headlined concert in Lagos called Codename Live at the Freeme Space, Nike Art Gallery, in Lekki.

But he will be clashing with WizKid, who is on at the Eko Hotel
