University of Siena: Autumn School 2023, ‘The Role of International Cultural Relations in Times of Crises’ (Italy)

Applications are now open for the Autumn School 2023 in International Cultural Relations. The school will take place from 16-18 September 2023, at the Pontignano Abbey in Siena, Italy. The organisers are seeking approximately 20 participants, including young researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to join them for advanced training in the field.

Benefits: The school usually has an admission fee of €250, but several scholarships will be awarded which offer a full fee waiver and reimbursement of travel expenses up to a maximum of €150. The school will cover the lodging and board expenses of all participants, who will reside at the Certosa di Pontignano.

Tulsa International Airport: Call for Suspended Art Installation Proposals (USA)

Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust (TAIT) is seeking to commission an artist to create a bold, innovative and engaging suspended art installation at Tulsa International Airport (TUL).

Benefits:

  • The budget for the project is $250,000. The Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust and the Tulsa International Airport Cultural Advisory Group (CAG) are administering the artist selection process. They will select up to five applicants and provide a $2,000 stipend for travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to present their final concept to the Selection Committee. The stipend is to be used for travel expenses, presentation materials, and concept production.

Intercontinental Bienal is an organization seeking to promote art, design, and performance by taking artists from around the world on tours across different continents to showcase their works.

This year’s tour will begin in South America and see artists travel through Colombia, Argentina, and Brazil.

Art Center Nabi Residency, ‘East Meets East’ (South Korea)

Art Center Nabi is restarting the annual Nabi Artist Residency programme dedicated to fostering innovation and creativity at the intersection of art, technology and society. Nabi Artist Residency is a platform that supports artists from diverse cultural backgrounds to explore their ideas and connect with fellow practitioners at the heart of Seoul. 

Benefits:

  • Airfares for a maximum of 2,500,000 KRW (~1740 EUR).
  • Accommodation (Han-Ok, 22-3, Hyoja-ro 7-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea).
  • Artist fee of 2,500,000 KRW (~1740 EUR).

the sustainable institution: Residency for Creating Sustainable Exhibition Prototypes (Lithuania, France, Germany)

the sustainable institution is an international symposium series, transdisciplinary artist residency and digital toolkit. The programme is a call to action to innovate new sustainable approaches and stimulate human, economic and ecological change to the cultural landscape.

Benefits

Three creative practitioners will be selected to develop a prototype for sustainable exhibition making with a grant of 20,000 EUR. Each successful applicant will be mentored by the jury (remote) over a six-month research and development period (September 2023 – March 2024), and then take residence at Rupert, Vilnius (Lithuania), LUMA Arles (France) or E-WERK Luckenwalde (Germany) for a period of 6 weeks in spring 2024.
