ART RESIDENCY PROGRAMME

ART RESIDENCY

The Arthouse Foundation has welcomed new artists for its Fall 2018 residency session: Ngozi Schommers, Jumoke Adeyanju and Natalia Orendain del Castillo.

Its statement:

Ngozi Schommers addresses issues of migration, politics, religion and gender, focusing on experiences of women from Africa. Schommers’ project in Lagos examines contemporary female identity in Nigeria, exploring notions of womanhood, motherhood and stigmatism in modern spaces.

This session, the Arthouse Foundation has partnered with the Goethe Institut to provide a residency exchange programme between Berlin and Lagos. Two artists working in Germany will complete five-week residencies with the Arthouse Foundation in Lagos, and Nigerian artist Ojudun Taiwo Jacob will undertake a residency in Berlin.

Jumoke Adeyanju‘s project explores hybrid identities of the Diaspora, incorporating interviews, multimedia and panel discussions that document the artistic and creative community in Lagos. Natalia Orendain del Castillo will explore issues surrounding the port of Lagos, focusing on the subjects of space and perception through an immersive and participatory format. Ojudun Taiwo Jacob‘s project in Berlin will examine social and political dynamics in Germany through choreography and performance.
