Join us this evening for the premiere of a short film on experimental artist, Olumide Onadipe and a fascinating conversation between him and sustainable development expert, Dr. Ndidi Nnoli: colouring outside the lines, expanding our notion of art and everyday life.
Olumide Onadipe (born 1982) is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose idiosyncratic sculptures are built using diverse media including plastics. He studied arts and education at the University of Nigeria Nsukka and the University of Lagos, where he graduated with a master’s degree in 2012. Olumide is fascinated by textures and environmental themes, and expresses this fascination through mixed media sculptures and paintings. He has exhibited as a solo artist and also taken part in group exhibitions in Ghana and Nigeria. He is represented by SMO Contemporary Art and his works have been showcased at ArtXLagos and 1.54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London(2017), and at the Saatchi START Art Fair in 2018.
Dr. Ndidi Nnoli is an avid art collector, teacher, writer, youth advocate, and business development strategist in the private, public, and civil society sectors. Currently she is Chief Sustainability and Governance Officer for the Dangote Group and published their first globally-benchmarked Sustainability Report in 2017. She has taught Ethics, Sustainability and Social Entrepreneurship at the Lagos Business School/Pan-Atlantic University. She has played a key role in important public sector initiatives including serving on the Presidency’s Private Sector Advisory Group on SDGs, the Committee on Job Creation, and working as Director of Strategy & Monitoring at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). She founded the Growing Businesses Foundation which has nurtured and built sustainable local economies at the “Bottom of the Pyramid” for over twenty years. Recently she initiated Rising Tide Africa which harnesses women angel networks, investment and mentoring to transform Africa. She is an alumni of the Wharton School and the London School of Economics, a Reinhard Mohn Fellow of Bertelsmann AG, and obtained her doctorate degree from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt in 2006.
