The African Women Playwrights Network has announced plans for her debut Festival of Plays.

The event is scheduled to hold at the School of Performing Arts, University of Legon, from September 1-4, 2022.

The network calls for the submission of plays that speak to the theme: Tackling Taboo Topics in African Female Writings.

This call runs from May 2 to June 2, 2022

Eligibility:

Only one submission per playwright, co-authorship is not allowed

Submission of a ONE ACT play of not more than TEN minutes in running time

Three (3) characters maximum in the play

The playwright must be, or identify as an African female living in Africa

The competition is open to anyone from the age of 18 upward

Plays will be selected based on their newness, originality, and thematic relevance and must not have been produced or shown anywhere else.

Submissions must be for stage

All submissions must be in English (Translated plays are acceptable)
