ARTSPLIT Auctions Olaku & Ors…

A Modern and Contemporary Nigerian Arts Auction due to take place from 15 – 31 July, 2022. This first-of-its-kind auction, titled Ode to Mastery, will feature five prominent Nigerian artists who are key drivers of the contemporary art scene on the continent: Abiodun Olaku, Duke Asidere, Edosa Ogiguo, El-Dragg Okwoju and Oliver Enwonwu.

CARNIVAL

EKO Theatre Carnival: Crown Troupe at 26

A weeklong festival of Drama, Masquerade Parade, Dance, Art Exhibition and Seminar, will run at the Crown Art Factory on the Bariga waterfront an s well as the Bariga culture precinct. Its a this culture enclave erected on the dream and vision of Segun Adefila, the crown head of the Crown Troupe experiment, which has spawned a factory of talents and creative effort producing a variety of culture products in the vicinity of the University of Lagos in the north of Lagos.

The Festival is essentially a fusion of street culture and high art.

THE STAGE

EMIR SANUSI: Truth in Time is a stage play that dramatizes the life of Khalifan Muhammadu Sanusi, the 14th Fulani Emir of Kano. The play is written and directed by Ahmed Yerima and will be premierred in two cities across the country (Lagos and Abuja) on the same day: August 6, 2022.

Produced by Joseph Edgar’s Duke of Shomolu Productions, the details of the opening shows are:

The Onobrakpeya Carnival: August Slice

 Bruce Onobrakpeya, patriarch of all of contemporary arts of Nigeria, is 90 in August 2022. The entire year has been dedicated by sundry organisations to commemorate the milstone. In August, the month of Onobrakpeya’s birth, the following events stand out in the year long calendar.

Conference: 60 YEARS OF CREATIVE GENIUS

Keynote Speaker: dele Jegede, artist and Professor of art.
