Lagos Streets Echo The Sounds Of World Music Day

Bogobiri plugs in this evening, but the city “shuts down” at Muri Okunola on Sunday
THE WORLD MUSIC DAY is today, June 21, 2018.
Lagos joins other cities in the world to commemorate Fete de la Musique, which was popularised by the French Cultural Centre in this city by the Lagoon, in the 1990s.

This year’s series of performances to commemorate the date is heavily championed by Make Music Lagos, recognised by the Lagos State Government. The organisation has outlined a series of events from JUNE 17-24, including some serious capacity building programmes.
The Alliance Francais, naturally, has a show within this calendar, at the Afrika Shrine.
Some headline performances will be at:

6pm this evening- June 21 at Bogobiri in Maitama Sule Street, Southwest Ikoyi (Make Music Lagos)
8pm on Saturday June 23 at the New Afrika Shrine, NERDC Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja, featuring
Felatronic by Aleqs Notal
4pm on Sunday June 24 at the Muri Okunola Park on Victoria Island( This version of the event is tagged LAGOS SHUT DOWN)

A pre-World Music Day event, titled, Mass Appeal already held at the newly opened Johnson Jakande Tinubu Park in Alausa in Ikeja
Make Music Lagos os organising, this year, the musical instruments teaching initiative, Learn to Play, which runs from June 19 till 21st at the Lagos State Education District 1, Agege while Learn to DJ, a teaching initiative with DJ Jimmy Jatt as the lead instructor alongside other DJs takes place today, June 21st which is the World Music Day.
