Jonathan Haynes has just won the Senior Fulbright Fellows to conduct research in Nigeria and teach at the University of Lagos from October 2018 to May 2019.
The American professor of English at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York, is author of Nollywood: The Creation of Nigerian Film Genres and co-author of Cinema and Social Change in West Africa
Haynes gave a paper on neoliberal transformations of Nollywood at the inaugural edition of the Lagos Conference at Barnard College (New York City) in 2016. At the 2nd Lagos Conference in June 2017, he gave another paper on nationalism and Nollywood imaginary, and presented his latest book “Nollywood: The Creation of Nigerian Film Genres.” Published in the United States by the University of Chicago Press, the Nigerian edition of the book is available through Bookcraft.
